Time past and GrahNaarg did as all young grendels do, grow like weeds.
His time was spent doing the usual things of early childhood, playing,
eating, sleeping, throwing tantrums and learning about life in general.

Deep in the cellers of the Island, where nothing seemed to stir except
for the occasional guard or stray carrot bettle, Umaumaarg stewed in thought.
He did not know how long his mate, Urgle, the Island's "queen", had banished
him here, nor, frankly, did he care anymore. All he knew was that he had an
other offspring, an offspring that did not even know he, his father, existed!
By the shell of Gruug (the first grendel hatched), that was not right! He
had to find away to see his son. But how?

Urgle awoke from her slumber unrefreshed. Something had been borthering
her for some time now, but she couldn't put her claw on it. This threat was
not one she could easily just reach out and punch into submission. It was
unseen, yet, it was deadly as any physical threat. Oh, how she wished she
could identify what it was, then, she would be a step closer to avoiding it!
She looked out her bedroom window and saw her son, the crown prince,
GrahNaarg, playing in the palace grounds. Something wispered to her, "He'll
hurt him if he get to him...."
It was as if claws of ice had gripped her heart! Something, no, someONE
wanted to hurt her last child! Who would have any reason to hurt the scaly
little tottler? She began scanning her memories for who would bear her or
hers such malice....

He was nowhere yet everywhere. He could feel the ether flowing over,
around and even through him. There was no discernable floor or ceiling where
he was and his field of vision was filling with lazy fog. He tried to rub
the sleep out his eyes when heard a voice.
"Oozle, welcome to the realm of the dead."
"WHO ARE YOU?! WHERE ARE YOU?! SHOW YOURSELF!!" Oozle shouted to the
voice.
"You are certainly demanding for such an insignifigant being. Are you
sure you wish to gaze upon my form, weak one?" the voice said in a cool, ever
patient tone.
"Yes, show yourself NOW!" Oozle shouted at the fog surrounding him.
"Very well, weakling. Remember, you asked for it...." came the reply.
A part of the mist began swirling agitatedly. In the center of it, a
form began to take shape. The form look vaguely like a grendel, vaguely.
On it's hunched back, there was a row of evilly jagged and sharp blade-like
bones. It's eyes glowed a frightening red glow that spewed malice. The
claws on It's feet and hands were jagged as well and It's teeth were all
fangs and knife-like. Overall, most definatly not like your average grendel!
"Well, you've shown yourself, but, you still haven't said who you are!",
Oozle.
The malevolent entity's lips pulled back in a toothy smile and laughed
a earth shaking laugh. "Weakling, one of your kind has not addressed me in
such a way since I last walked your world!", the monster said, still
chuckling.
"Very well, Oozle, I might as well explain my reasons for interupting
your journey to the other world." the not-so-nice-being said.
"Other world?", Oozle interupted, "You mean I'm not really dead yet?
But I remember the exact moment I died!"
"I am MelahHuronZaAtu, demon extrodinare. Long, long ago (even for me,
not just in your time, weakling), I was able to roam the universe as I
pleased. I was enjoing myself making the lives of all those mortals in that
universe miserable! It may not have been like ruling the multiverse, but at
least it was *mine*! Well, one day, an being from your world, I belive it
was called a 'grettin', said she had had enough of my antics and announced
that she was going to find a way to stop me. I laughed her off, what kind of
powers can a puny 'grettin' use against *me*, MelahHuronZaAtu?
"It turned out that she found a stronger being called 'Goddess' to
help her. This 'Goddess' had access to power and banished me from *my*
universe!", the demon said.
Oozle sort of felt for the guy, he, too, had been banished to a small
and confined space by the same being.
"Go on, demon MelahHuronZaAtu," Oozle prompted.
"That brings me here to this point. The only way Goddess can be
undermined is by a creature from your world. I have watched many beings
from your 'Albia', almost all of them are too soft, too weak to serve my
purposes. You, Oozle, are a very different case indeed! You have been
violent, aggressive, unruly, disobediant, and vicious from the day you first
hatched, the *perfect* canidate for my plans!" The demon stopped.
"AND?!", Oozle said, his curiousity meter at max.
"I won't say anymore until you agree to a proposal of mine.", he said.
"WHAT IS IT?! TELL ME!! TELL ME!!", the grendel shrieked.
"It's an offer I know you can't refuse." was all it said.
